Jerry, I'm not sure what you are saying here. Yes, I know that there is a
widely cultivated and sold form of Crocus ancyrensis which is called 'Golden
Bunch'.

But are you implying that the name 'Golden Bunch' has always properly
belonged only to a cultivar of Crocus ancyrensis? 

Was Patrick Synge's attribution of a 'Goldlen Bunch' to the Crocus he knew
as C. suterianus in error?

Montgomery County, Maryland, USA, USDA zone 7, where Crocus ancyrensis is
over for the year and C. olivieri seems to have departed for good.
