Dahlia imperialis question/more

There is a nice double-flowered form of D. imperialis, if it ever gets to
flowering; some friends of mine found it in Mexico growing as a hedging
plant in a remote village & came home triumphantly with their prize, only to
find that Tony Avent sells it from Plant Delights Nursery!

Should have said that D. imperialis revels in the short days & frost free
climate of Nairobi, Kenya, where I first got to know it - pink flowers
against a blue African sky...
