Sternbergia question

Hi All,

in these days Sternbergia candida is blooming. last year it did for the
first time and the flower was small. I though the bulb wasn't enough strong
yet, but this year it looks quite good. The flowers are small however. Isn't
this species described as large flowered and also scented ?? Mine has none
of these attributes. If it wasn't for the odd time of flowering, I wouldn't
grow it with much interest. Indeed I am not particularly impressed from
S.clusiana and fischeriana too. The flowers aren't larger than lutea and
indeed I have found wild lutea with the size of a small tulip.
Is it a question of size of bulbs or the literature have over rated these
species?
