Dennis, The only hardy Hymenocallis I can think of that would grow in water is H. liriosme. I have some in pots here, if you want to try them sometime. I'm only about 2 hrs. NW from Cincy, on the north side of Indianapolis. Let me know if you want to come up. The Clivia are just about finished blooming now. Outdoors, some reticulata irises are blooming; Trillium nivale, and some Galanthus are in bloom; and Trillium recurvatum and T. luteum are just coming up.
