Dear All,

The items listed below have been donated by our members to be
shared.
If you are interested in obtaining some of them, please email me PRIVATELY
at <ds429@comcast.net>. Include "BX 249" in the subject line.

Specify the NUMBERS of the items which you would like; do not
specify quantities. It is a good idea to include your snail mail address,
too, in case I don't already have it. Availability is based on a first come,
first served system. When you receive your seeds/bulbs you will find,
included with them, a statement of how much money (usually $2.00/item)
(cash, check, or Pay Pal to <Arnold140@verizon.net>; no money orders,
please) you should send to the PBS treasurer to defray our costs for packing
and first-class, priority-mail, or international postage.

PLEASE NOTE: CURRENT POSTAL-RATE SCHEMES NECESSITATE OUR PLACING A
SURCHARGE ON EACH ORDER FROM PBS BX OFFERINGS.

Some of you are members of the online PBS discussion forum but are not
members of the Pacific Bulb Society. THIS BX OFFERING IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO
MEMBERS OF THE PBS. Consider joining the PBS so that you can take advantage
of future offers such as this. Go to our website:

From John MacGregor:

1. Seed of Arum italicum 'Marmoratum' -- Seed from clones with strongly
contrasting leaf-vein patterns.  Some seedlings may mature all-green.  I
rogue these out.  Handsome, long-lasting foliage for arrangements in winter.
Spadix of bright orange-red fruits in spring through early summer.  Dormant
from midsummer to October.

2. Seed of Gladiolus tristis

3. Seed of Habranthus robustus
BULBS/CORMS

4. Babiana stricta -- Blooming-size corms in colors ranging from red-violet
through blue-violet, many with a dark red eye.

5. Babiana stricta -- Mixed cormels and smaller corms.  For patient souls.

6. Chasmanthe floribunda var. duckittii -- Blooming-size corms.  Flowers are
soft yellow.  Gladiolus treatment.  Good for cutting.

7. Crocosmia masoniorum -- Chains of blooming-size corms.  For bloom next
summer, plant the chain intact; in this species the old corm does not
shrivel but remains plump and firmly attached, forming a vertical chain,
nourishing the new corm and promoting flowering.  Corms may be divided to
increase stock, but it's not worth the trouble, as it multiplies faster than
rabbits.  Good cut-flower.

8. Crocosmia masoniorum -- Chains and singletons of smaller corms.  Your
patience will be rewarded in a year or two.

9. Scilla peruviana -- Mostly blooming-size bulbs.  Keep moist and plant
immediately; they are forming new roots and starting to sprout!

From Stephen Putman:

10. Seeds if Hymenocallis eucharidifolia, ONLY ONE ORDER

From Arnold Trachtenberg:

Vassar 3938. Collected in S. Africa, Cape 3 km S. of Bloukrans Pass. Easy
indoors or out. Shade. Few.

From Lynn Makela:

21. Seeds of Zephyranthes morrisclintii, few
22. Seed of Zephyranthes traubii

Bulbs:

23. Oxalis brasiliensis
24. Oxalis namaquana
25. Oxalis 'Omel' This is a hybrid from Israel. It is a very pretty plant.
The flowers are large for the size of the plant and are a rich pink. It
makes a nice pot plant, but do not let it loose in the garden unless you
have a lot of space to fill. It reproduces like mad.
26. Oxalis purpurea 'Garnet'
27. Oxalis virginea - a compact plant. Slow to reproduce in Sun City Center,
FL. Lovely white flower. Likes some shade.

Thank you, John, Stephen, Arnold, Patty, Emilie, and Lynn !!

Best wishes,
Dell
