it's quite surprising for me to hear that H. aulicum doesn't set seeds. Mine do regularly (I self pollinate them of course), unless a late frost destroy the growing pods. My strain is the old one present in Europe as Amaryllis aulica robusta and has large flowers with little green in the throat. It flowers always in December here and plats are summer dormant, watered or not (indeed I don't water them).
