One: repot in a large tub or bucket without disturbing the root ball. It has the reputation of being difficult in cultivation (if it is the real thing, uncommon in cultivation) and partial to poor, well drained soils. It belongs to the small group of winter rainfall species that is dormant in summer.

A simpler answer is that in a small pot the plants never attain a mature size.
