Most important is to change the settings in Facebook
say No to everything except friends (you can choose them yourself or delete
them again if wrong)
If you want to be anonymous just use a fake name , details and age
most info you don't have to fill in

There is also an interesting program Socialfixer

browser so you don't see most annoying
adds
For many browers but Not for IE

Against advertisements in your browser have a look for Adblock
