squirrel deterrent

We have native Oaks, so many squirrels. For newly cultivated/planted areas I lay metal fencing on the ground (chicken or cage wire), it also deters the cats from doing their business.
It's the cats which do the best job on the squirrels; they won't tread far from a safe tree when cats are around. One of ours actively hunts and kills several squirrels a year - just this morning my wife made me cleanup up some remaining guts and claws from our porch. This is a well fed cat and he still does the yardwork.

On second thoughts, .... just don't give it a bone or it might dig a bigger hole!

Hello all,

Does anyone have a good solution to prevent squirels from digging in your
garden?
