I would sow this in late winter to germinate in spring, in classic light gritty mix in equable conditions. E. schijffii is a true alpine and seems to like cool conditions. I grow it in a pot here, kept cool and dry in a shed in winter, then outside in full sun* for the growing season, with ample moisture. (* = North Yorkshire full sun.)
