Jane mentioned Fritillaria alburyana.   My friend John Willis let me know recently that he is keen to grow this species. Since I have seed of this species in the refrigerator, I'll share it with him. The seeds, from the NARGS exchange a year or two ago, have been refrigerated since receipt. But there's a catch: when I finally tracked down the packet, I was disappointed to see that there are only six seeds. That makes three for each of us. My gut feeling is to sow on dry soil in the autumn and let natural rain do the rest.Jane, what would you suggest? Does anyone else have ideas?
