This is probably my typical attempt to be helpful without really knowing what’s going on, but with Photoshop CC you can resize pictures for use in a magazine in a minute or two. If you look at the picture on page 70 of the Winter 2017/18 issue of the Rock Garden Quarterly, this was originally a 77 (seventy-seven) Kb file (taken with an Olympus 2.2 MP camera), and resized to about 1.1 Mb. It’s not entirely perfect by any means, but it came out presentably.
