Boophone disticha

I have one in the ground here in Santa Barbara.  Last year it did not 
bloom.  This year it has 2 flowering stalks.  Is this uncommon?  One is 
in flower and the other is just emerging.  It should be interesting to 
watch this and see how the seed heads accommodate one another. I'll post 
a picture when things get a little further along.  I have 3 others in 
pots which flower sporadically. I have never figured out what it takes 
to get them to flower on a regular basis.

I also have a Brunsvigia josephinae in the ground that must be 6-7 
inches in diameter that has never flowered.  It does produce an 
impressive set of leaves.
