Thank you all! I continue to be awed by the collective erudition displayed on this forum. Too bad we can't monetize it on some team trivial pursuit game... I'll do my best to plant some late alliums. Of course, there are other drumstick-shaped flowers that bloom at various times, such as Armeria and Silene, but you wouldn't want them on your bagel.
