Washed coarse sand in Seattle?

Have you tried Salmon Bay Sand and Gravel, in Ballard?  I don't know if
they have exactly what you are seeking, but they're worth a try.

I start nearly everything in peat and pumice, equally mixed.  Bulk pumice
is available at the Maltby branch of Pacific Topsoils.  They may also be a
good sand source.
