Hi Bruce, I live in Boston (Cambridge) MA and I have been growing Bessera for many years as well and I do the same exact thing that Erika does. We typically have a very cold/wet winter and a humid/wet summer and I'm fortunate to have a very cool basement that I store all my hippeastrum, habranthus, zephyranthes, eucomis and sinningia for their winter slumber. I’ve been growing them for many years. I place them in a cooler room for the Winter and keep them bone dry in their pots upright until early May here in the Northern Hemisphere. I have great success each year with a great many flowers. I repot every Spring to freshen the soil and separate the smaller corms. Erika Temperature of 11C this morning but a beautiful sunny day ahead. I have been amazed by the variety of tropical and subtropical bulbs that are hardy in NC, but I never would have expected Eithea and Griffinia to survive.
