No; many will only sprout at the correct season. For example, you can't do an effective sprouting test on most spring harvested winter rainfall species during the summer without a cooled growing chamber, and some may need several months' after ripening.

To the poster asking about Lachenalia seed - it may be too early to sow in your region. It usually has high viability, and sprouts luxuriantly. Give warm to cool days, cool nights and very large amounts of water. Warm nights shut Lachenalias off.
