Diana comments from Northern California that the sky was so dark from the fires, smoke, and ash, she needed lights on and so cold that she needed heat on. That's what I found so bizarre - expecting because of the temps in the high 70s and 80s to need air conditioning, but finding myself turning on the heat! It's worse today, I think. I can't see in the house without lights. Probably whoever first said that hell was on earth, not elsewhere, didn't realize how many examples we would experience in our lifetimes...
