Sorry for the confusion. By winter growing I mean adapted to a mediterranean
climate: winter rainfall and summer drought.

By summer growing I mean the opposite: Summer rainfall and winter drought.
Many bulbs from Mexico and eastern South Africa expect that weather pattern.
We don't have a convenient name like "mediterranean" for that climate, so I
tend to say summer and winter growing.
