Why does my Iris x hollandica look like this?

This is an Iris x hollandica that developed weird, almost like a double
form. The yellow parts were twice as wide as normal and over the course of
several days it never fully opened. All the ones next to it were normal.
When I tried to gently find the reproductive parts they were small and
looked under-developed.

I asked about it on another forum and somebody said they didn't think this
was a disease process (my initial concern) but it could be due to
"environmental factors," which basically covers everything.

I don't know a ton about Iris, but I thought I'd ask here. I'm in WV, USDA
Z6B.Thank you! :)
