Libertia sessiliflora

Jane gave me a plant a number of years ago and I had no idea what it
needed. I planted it out. Mine is growing in shade in coastal Northern
California in sandy low nutrient soil with almost no water in summer
when the soil is bone dry. I don't think I have ever fertilized it. It
has survived in these conditions and flowers every year so obviously is
tolerant of different conditions than recommended below. We probably get
more rain than some places in California in winter, but not nearly what
we used to. There are photos on the wiki of my plants. The flowers are
not very big.  I have a second plant that reseeded in my garden, but I
haven't seen a lot of them and I expect seed has gotten away from me
more than once so maybe the special treatment Jane writes about makes a
difference.
