OttolineMy Dichelostemma  ida-maia which I planted in pots last October, are just coming up. I have noticed that bulbs left in the ground all summer will come up about a month sooner than than fall planted bulbs. These bulbs do not need frost protection which is part of their annual life cycle. Mine have survived 24 degrees F with no problem, although I do not know at what temperature the will be killed. Sun Set zone 14 west of Modesto CA.Jim Barton
