Mary Sue,

Amaryllis belladonna flowers when rains start after a dry summer rest.
The months are variable because rainfall start times are inconsistent.

Southern hemisphere bloom times should be 6 mos out of phase in the 
northern hemisphere.

I think that season of bloom is more helpful than calendar months; but, 
I think some clue about bloom time is better than silence.
