There is a nursery in Vancouver B.C., Phoenix Perennials, that offers many unusual plants. They go through all the work of importing bulbs and we can pick them up if we live nearby, or they will mail them within Canada. This is a lot less work for us than having one of us needing to figure it all out. Currently they are taking orders for some South African bulbs - a few examples are 4 kinds of Ammocharis Boophone 18 kinds of Brunsvigia 11 kinds of Crinum and so on.
