Crocus tommasinianus

I had my first flowering of Crocus tommasinianus from BX seed this year
and was fascinated to see that the flowers didn't open all at the same
time and for many weeks a crab spider went from one spent flower to a
new one as it opened. It even hung on to the last spent flower for a day
or two. Fortunately for the pollinators I don't think it captured any,
but it or another one was more fortunate on a Tristagma. I thought about
adding the crocus spider photos to the wiki, but there are already a lot
of photos of this species on the wiki. But when I thanked Mike
Rummerfield for donating the seed he sent me photos of this species
naturalizing in his garden in Washington state. Those photos are
spectacular so I have added them to the wiki. Enjoy.
