I live in Central CA so I know my plants have totally different experiences, but I’m case there’s a kernel in my experience with Sprekelia that helps, I’m contributing. I have my Sprekelia plants growing out of doors in a regular plant bed. My soil is very sandy. They are not regularly watered by any means; that said, when they do get watered, they bloom very shortly no matter when it happens. ( to explain - I’ve forgotten to turn off the water in other areas , and it eventually travels to their area and beyond. ) They get rained on during the winter. They don’t die off and have leaves all year. I recently dug some up to give away and one fell out of the group. I found it later and stuck it in a pot. In the ensuing period, it has lost its leaves. Close by, where the plants have apparently propagated without my knowledge, there is a young plant flowering right now. None of the rest are. I thought that were were supposed to keep their roots moist because they are fleshy. Maybe bone dry is too dry? Mine are in full sun. Crowded. Not fertilized except by accidental runoff from an iris bed. The roots never dry up. Hope there’s something you can use. If it never blooms, I’m willing to share an unrelated plant for you to try.
