Dear Tony: Thanks for your thoughts, most interesting. In your message, you say "Hydration in bulbs and agaves is quite different than in shrubs and trees". Could you elaborate on this a little? Re the trees that got clobbered, in a great cold snap here, some years ago now, some trees were hit hard while others of the same species were not damaged at all, even though in the same area. This was because of the wind chill factor and those protected a little were the ones that survived. I feel wind-chill is often ignored when such things happen and it should not be. Do you think the composition of soil mixes can be regulated to provide more protection to plants in pots? Cheers, John E. Bryan
