What about Crocosmia

Hi Gang,

I have some sort of Crocosmia; I think it is Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora
(Montbretia). It has been in bloom for about a month and is a very common
plant in this part of the world (greater Houston area). It is vigorous, and
the flowers are screaming orange.

I've heard there are redder versions of Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora, and even
yellow forms. Anyone out there want to trade for a few of the orange corms?

How about regular Crosmia species, are they tolerant types that don't mind
too much rain? I've read that Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora is invasive, and
perhaps it can be in some situations. However, in my yard it grows
shallowly and is easily controlled by weeding it once a year.

Cordially,

Joe

A wonderfully fragrant, darker-than-Ellen-Bosanquet Crinum is blooming this
week. I don't know the ID.
