This really made me smile!  I never thought of it that way before, but
you're absolutely right.

I've been a hard core Gesneriad grower for about a year now, and I have seen
this happening in that Family.  Like when commonly grown wild-collected
plants finally get designated as a species... the common name continues to
persist.
