It was back in May 2007. I was giving a lecture in Maryland. I mentioned it to Jim in the hope he'd be able to come so we could meet, face to face. Not only did he come, he brought an enormous bouquet of flowers for me, cut from his garden. I'm sure the audience was impressed. I know I was! Typical of his kindness and generosity. Judy in New Jersey where the bitter cold has frozen the Nishisackiwick from bank to bank, and the Delaware River has sluggish pads of ice slowly moving downstream. It will be a late spring, with the frost as deep in the bare ground as it must be.
