Cleaning aroid seed (was glassines)

I'm curious now how prevalent this effect is. I've heard about it from
other aroiders, but I've always cleaned aroid seed with bare hands, just
squishing the seeds out of the berries and washing them off in a
strainer, and never had any issues. I'm cleaning some Dracunculus
vulgaris seeds tonight, in fact. Is this something that affects just
some people, most people, almost everyone?

Of course, I rarely do more than a few hundred berries at a time, so
maybe I've just never had enough exposure.
