My 2 cents on our list vs forum & more

Dear All,
With everything that is going on at the moment, it was really hard for me to just keep silence. While I did not read every email that was sent in the last 2 weeks or so, I get a feeling of what is going on. And yes, go ahead and judge me: "well, you should read everything first before writing". I did this before and it did not help me personally to understand the situation(s) better.
I think what the board is trying to do with implementing the forum is commendable. Now, if this is the most effective way, I cannot say, given the demographics and their usage of internet today. I am also not convinced the forum is the best way, because I don't know the costs and the effort it means. To me it feels like it's tedious and it took us a while to have it. Given that, I am not sure what the cost benefit ratio of it is. Let me give you a personal example: as some of you may know, back in September 2017 I did found a brand "Bulb in A Box", registered it and created Twitter & Instagram accounts, a YouTube channel and a Facebook Fanpage. While I did get some engagement (especially on YouTube and Facebook Page), it did not bring me any business. Then I thought: "what am I doing?" and I came to the conclusion that maybe a Facebook group would work. So I did create this group in February 2020 and now it has more than 11K people on it, sharing their experience and love with growin
g Hippeastrum and other bulbs. I also do all my business there and guess what? It works, beautifully. I could not be more grateful for this! And on this note, maybe we need to find what is best for us, The PBS. I think we should keep the email list going any try the forum vs Social Media (e.g. Facebook group) or even go on Tiktok. It all depends on us and how we use internet.
Now about Robin's emails on other members volunteering for the open roles on the Board. I think what happened, happened and it was ugly, let's just admit that. The apology that was sent later was at least something, but personally, I think not enough. At the end of the day, we all make mistakes, but then how to we balance things out? Keep in mind, we all perceive things differently and damage control cannot happen overnight. I know if I would be the President of PBS, I would do things differently, like I do it on my Facebook group. I am not saying I am an expert, by far not, I am just saying I am taking care of my people. And I am sad when I cannot make someone happy, but this is just it, I cannot do it all. So give Robin some credit and I think we all can do better. She, me, you, everyone.
Cheers,

p.s. I am not going to go back to some or your very discouraging emails on the white Worsleya post that I did in 2020, I decided today to move forward and leave this in the past. Back then, I just joined PBS and I was very excited to be part of this family, but then I was bullied like there was no tomorrow. Yes, I made peace with it and from now on, I will try to be more active, both here on the email list and on the forum. Spring is coming, we all can start fresh.
