South African bulb collections to see in California

Mike, all the immense collection of bulbs at Irvine were from the wild. Their provenance made them particularly valuable. They were kept in huge mesh houses to avoid pollinators, in massive containers. Of course, the lack of proper labelling makes them useless for a Botanical Garden to keep among their "top" material but they could be used for propagation and eventual sale of seedlings to the public.
