Acidanthera is a cormous genus in the Iridaceae family that most people now accept as belonging to the genus Gladiolus. There is one species commonly grown and still often sold under this genus name.
Gladiolus murielae is the accepted name for this plant. Other synonyms sometimes used are Acidanthera bicolor , Gladiolus callianthus , and Acidanthera murielae. This species has white flowers with dark markings and is summer growing, blooming late summer into fall. It originates in Africa and is fragrant at night. In cold climates plants are dug in the winter and stored and replanted after the last frost.
