John Longanecker

My interests are gardening, weather, and photography. I live in Placerville, El Dorado County , CA. My USDA zone is 7, but my specific locale is hilltop and this causes a notable "banana belt" effect, especially affecting nighttime temperatures. The main concerns are summer high temperatures and prolonged winter "freezes" of 8-12 hours with temperatures just below freezing (this occurs when there is a low elevation freezing level and no precipitation.) My main bulb interest is Lilium, species and hybrids. I enjoy exploring the west for Lilium habitats and photographing natives. I was a member of the former Sacramento/Sierra Lily Society. I am a member of the North American Lily Society.
