Onixotis is a genus in the Colchicaceae family of two species, found in the winter rainfall area of South Africa. Manning, Goldblatt, and Snijman, 2002 in our reference bibliography has more information. Since that publication, J.C.Manning & Vinn., Taxon 56: 177 (2007) have suggested that this genus be included in Wurmbea. This change has now been accepted in South Africa and by Kew. The main difference is that the tepals of spent flowers drop off in Onixotis. For more information and photos of these two species, click on the links to them on the Wurmbea wiki page.
