Lysimachia L. is a worldwide genus of herbaceous and evergreen perennials and shrubs, mainly growing in damp grassland and woodland or near water in subtropical regions in the family Primulaceae. There are 284 subordinate taxa. The five-petaled flowers are most often white or yellow and sometimes pink and purple. Trientalis L. was a genus in the Myrsinoideae tribe of the Primulaceae family with three species, but is included in Lysimachia L. sensu latu as of 2023. Members of the former genus occur in North America and northern Eurasia. The separation still feels useful, as the group shows a pretty unique morphology for Lysimachia and most of the species of this genus would not fit our criteria to be included on this wiki. These three species have rhizomes.
