This page contains information about Crinum hybrids with flowers that are white or mostly white with very pale keels or tips and have names that start with A-M.
Crinum 'Bayou Traveler' was hybridized by Marcelle Sheppard. The recorded parentage is C. oliganthum × C. flaccidum. Photos taken August 2004 by Jay Yourch.
Crinum bulbispermum × C. lugardiae is a hybrid made by Jim Shields with compact, but untidy, foliage and large, well displayed white flowers with pale pink exterior keels. Photos taken May 2006 by Alani Davis.
Crinum 'Carolina Beauty' is a hybrid of C. bulbispermum × C. americanum. Unfortunately, the tall, thin scapes are not sturdy and require staking. On the plus side, the flowers are fragrant, the bulb tolerates cold winter temperatures, and it is a repeat bloomer. The closely related 'Seven Sisters' is superior. Crinum 'Catherine' is a hybrid of C. bulbispermum × C. americanum. The scapes are not sturdy and often require staking but are better than many other classic heirloom forms from this group of hybrids which support scapes better after they form a clump and are no longer a single bulb. Crinum Hannibal hybrid is hybrid of unknown origins distributed & presumably done by Les Hannibal. The seed parent which is reputedly C. abyssinicum, but the pollen parent is unknown. Unfortunately, it has sometimes been distributed as C. abyssinicum & pink C. abyssinicum causing confusion between this hybrid and that species, which already has a confused identity. Even if the seed parent is presumed correct the pollen parent is still a mystery. Compared with other Hannibal crosses, such as 'White Prince' & 'White Mogul', this hybrid generally begins blooming much earlier in the season, however, because of the sequential flowering, C. moorei is presumably involved. C. × powellii is a possible pollen parent, though not the only possible explanation of the earlier bloom time of this hybrid compared to the other similar C. moorei hybrids. The flowers are fragrant & the foliage is attractive. Photos taken 2006 by Alani Davis.
Crinum 'John's Bid' is a Dave Lehmiller hybrid of C. paludosum × C. 'Little Stinker' (C. flaccidum × C. americanum). It has white flowers with broad petals that open wide. Photos taken September 2007 by Jay Yourch.
Crinum 'Louis Bosanquet' was named after the hybridizer of 'Ellen Bosanquet'. It is reputed to be a hybrid involving C. macowanii, however it seems more similar to C. × goweni. Photos taken May 2006 by Alani Davis and June 2007 by Jay Yourch.
Crinum 'Maiden's Blush' is a hybrid of C. zeylanicum × C. moorei made by T.M. Howard. It is a sister seedling of 'Old Maid'. Although paler, both plants resemble 'J.C. Harvey', which has the same parentage. Photos taken July 2006 by Alani Davis.
