This BX is the one that keeps on giving.  While sorting and prepping the bulbs for distribution, I came upon a box I had forgotten to include in BX 486.  I am posting the list below.  Kindly refer to the initial post/email for the rules that apply to this BX, the only caveat being this will be open until Wednesday afternoon (12 p.m. Pacific).

BX 486 is now open for orders! 
I will leave the ordering window open through the end of this week and will close on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 p.m. PST. The closure will be announced on the list and forum. This will be a lottery so everyone has an equal opportunity to get the most desired items.

Only current, up-to-date members may order from this exchange. If you are unsure about your membership status kindly contact Jane McGary at janemcgary@earthlink.net.  Likewise, you will need to be up-to-date on any money owed for previous orders. You can check with Arnold Trachtenburg at arnold140@verizon.net if you are unsure if you are current on orders made.

You are not required to be a donor to make an order, but please do consider donating if you have extras of your bulbs.  It's fine if you only have a few to spare!

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS LIST WHEN ORDERING.  You will need to send me an email separately at bulbexpbs@gmail.com.  Please be sure provide me with your full name and shipping address. I will make a brief acknowledgement of receipt of your email.

Additionally, when you make your order, it would be most helpful if you list the item number and bulb name.  It makes it much easier for me to match up orders.

Bulbs are $3 per portion. Very big or very rare bulbs may be more expensive. Postage is added to your order at cost.  If you are allotted an order, you will receive a box with a small slip of paper with your total due.  Donors, your postage credit will be deducted from your total due.

Payments for the BX may be through a check sent directly to Arnold or on the PBS Bulb Exchange webpage with the PayPal link. Please go to the bottom of the Bulb Exchange page and fill in the payment form at https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbsforum/index.php?page=BXpay

It will be most helpful if you reference the BX number when you make the payment.

Bulbs are $3 each. Some orders will have multiple bulbs but only count as one order if we have a lot of that bulb to go around.

This will be a lottery (however, if you did not receive something last round, kindly advise and I will assure some accommodation. Also, if there is something you really are looking to receive, it helps for me to know this as well.)

I take a thousand photos and as I am now committed to playing in the Forum, as I have always just been a lurker, here are a few from my garden in the last week or so. The lycoris names are unknown to me as they were given to me a few years ago by Barry Yinger when he left his home/farm/nursery. The lilium speciosum album and Uchida are my two favorites that I've had for years. 
The dioscoria discolor is outside climbing up a hamamelis and was from a previous bx and will be brought in once it gets frosted in October. I alternate its growth: some years I grow it over the winter indoors and some I'll plant outside for summer. It doesn't seem to mind at all. 
The last snaps are of my largest urginea maritima that was sent to me by a good friend in Australia a couple years ago. We have perfected the timing to quickly acclimate bulbs he sends to me. Dormant in March and one growing season and they then will follow the regularly scheduled program. This was a huge bulb when he sent it and it divided over the winter here. I don't know of anyone near me who grows this but I am enamored mightily. I love having something so lush in my cold barn over the winter.

This BX open for 36 hours (that's 2:00 am EST and 11:00 pm PST Monday/Sunday) - they leave my possession on Monday morning.
Standard rules apply: It's a lottery. You will get a reply from me acknowledging your request, but it will be just two words: "got it".  I spend a bit of time trying to sound friendly and I am, but it slows me down when I receive 50+ emails.  I beg your indulgence on this one.

Great participation for this quick BX.  
Nearly everything was spoken for.  Obviously, some things were very popular and in short supply.
There are several folks who did not get any of the choices they requested.  I regret there wasn't enough of the pelargonium to go round (only 1) and there was lots of interest in the calostemma and crossyne but very few of them as well. If you didn't get any of your picks this round, do remind me next time you order and I will make an effort to assure you receive something you're after.  Yes, it's a lottery, but I want all our members to benefit.

I sent half the boxes out today and the balance will go tomorrow.  
If you don't receive a box in the next week, you likely didn't get your choice(s). I keep an eye on the tracking so I can see if packages were delivered. If anything appears to be lost in transit, I will advise the recipient.

In an effort to keep things moving right along with the BX, here we are with a pop up right after the last boxes have gone out in the mail from the most recent BX.

Beautiful bulbs. Phenomenal response in requests.  Most people sent in lengthy lists, which is wise as this furthers the opportunity to get something on that wish list.

I am still sorting and packing up the donations and have noted everyone's lists. If you have not received a reply from me, kindly re-send. I believe I responded to everyone, but there were over 70 orders.  I should begin sending orders out over the weekend and next week.

The most popular items by far were the tecophilaea, nerine, haemanthus and massonia.  Eighteen members requested the cyclamen rohlfsianum. There is one of them.  If you receive it: you are the luckiest duck.

Thank you for your participation in the exchange.  The donors are most generous; we owe them each gratitude in helping us to obtain things we might not otherwise have the opportunity to grow.

The cyrtanthus was donated by Amy Olmsted (gardening in Vermont in her greenhouse), who acquired her bulbs from Nic Heckett (who gardens in Virginia) who obtained it over 30 years ago from Logee's Greenhouses in Connecticut.  That's truly all we know. I asked Nic if he had any further information and he recalls none to share.

Hello, Everyone,

I had quite an experience with the first big BX I handled and I learned a lot. A LOT.
It went fairly smoothly and some hiccups occurred but overall, I hope most folks were satisfied.

I have taken a breather, attended to my garden and am advised by a few donors that it's time for another.  I admit I am happy about this as it has been my desire to get us back to more frequent BXs. 

Therefore, kindly take stock and send me your extras! The deadline for donations will be Sunday July 17. If you have things that you wish to send, but cannot get to them timely (vacations, etc, I understand.  Please send along afterward but do advise me that you are sending (bulbexpbs@gmail.com) so I can keep an eye out; I'm not opposed to small BXs in between seasonal offerings).  I plan on posting a list the following weekend.  I still have some dormant bulbs from the last BX and will offer them as well.
